I bought a big 24' Feathelite surv toy-hauler thinking I could entice my family to join me camping, but none of them have shown much interest in the last two years when I went to Colorado.
So I'm sitting alone in my trailer with most of the amenities last week in Almont Colorado. H/W shower, toilet Iv never used, microwave, stove top, big fridge. And I wonder, "what was I thinking.. I love the amenities, but the size limits me to stay in well traveled area's. "
I'm beginning to rebuild my cummins E350 van and convert it to 4x4. Iv been toying with gear ratios trying to work something out with 35" tires and the 8000# trailer, but again, I need to be realistic. If I'm alone, I don't need this huge toy-hauler to get me and my enduro to Colorado. I need a smaller trailer. Some may say the van is enough but I disagree.
I'm envisioning all of the amenities I have now, but in a compact version with a big tent attached to the trailer so your sheltered at all times if you wish. And put the enduro on the bumper of the van. A lift of some type since it will be tall.
Does something like that exist? Or would I have to build it?
With a lighter load, I wouldn't worry about pushing my rebuilt cummins over the edge again. And could get further up the trail for more seclusion.
